FRSC vows to go after trailers loaded with people, animals

 Dauda Biu, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has advised Corps commanders to pursue trailers carrying people and animals that are traveling on the highways.

During the first quarter of the strategy session with commanding officers on Wednesday at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja, the corps marshal issued the directive.

He said: “Our analysis reveals that vehicles carrying animals, goods, and people, interstate buses, and mass transit systems remain significant contributors to road accidents and fatalities.

“Addressing these specific categories of vehicles requires targeted interventions and a multifaceted approach.”

Biu further stated that any employee found guilty of corruption will face consequences from the Corps.

He continued by saying that other security organizations will be enlisted to help them punish drivers who hit patrol members while they were going about their lawful business.


"The growing prevalence of bribery among operatives is a stain on our collective integrity," stated the Corps Marshal. We must move decisively to eradicate corruption from our company because it has no place among our ranks. 

“Let me be clear, any form of corruption will be met with swift and severe consequences.

“I am always moved and disturbed over the issues of knockdown of our patrol operatives while conducting their legitimate duties, this trend will be a thing of the past as we engage our various stakeholders and sister security agencies to stem the tides and bring those responsible of maiming and killing our operatives to face justice as a due recompense for their actions.

“I will not fold my arms and watch our operatives subjected to inhumane treatments while they judiciously carry out their duties.”
